I was charged $50.85 cents on April 1 st. Once I logged into the account I subscribed for the $35 package. I did receive an invoice for this & my credit card was charged $39.95 on April 2nd. Why was I charged twice

Did you used Change Now option to choose a new plan? If you didz that is the expected behavior when Change Now is used.
PM had a no refund policy and usually cannot reverse it. But since you made the change just 1 day after the renewal, ask PM CS agent to see if they can help. Please open ticket with PM support:

Getting billed twice is frustrating, but it’s a known issue that occasionally happens with Public Mobile’s automated system. Since they don't have a call center, you'll need to handle this through their online ticket system.
