Thanks so much. I contacted the previous carrier and they say that because I am no longer with them, they don't have that # for me. They said to contact my new carrier, so Public Mobile. I'm very confused at this point - and worried..... because of the rush that I am in... thank you

Find your PUK: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/where-to-find-your-puk
- SIM network PIN blocked. Enter SIM network PUK - is asking for the phone’s (often Samsung) “master code" after entering the wrong code too many times. Samsung and/or your previous carrier can give you this.
- SIM network unlock PIN" is asking for your previous carrier's unlock code - just contact them with your IMEI (dial *#06# to get it) and they'll give it to you. If you enter this incorrectly too many times, you'll get the error message above.
Caution! If the PUK is entered incorrectly 10 times in a row, the SIM card becomes unusable.

Hi , new to Public mobile and I need a PUK # to "unlock the SIM network".
In a rush to use my phone because of some personal deadlines, and wondering if this takes a long time for someone at Public Mobile to give me the #?
Thank you

Oh thank you all - I'm starting to be encouraged! I will call Bell tomorrow and ask the question exactly as you mentioned. I really appreciate your help. I'm terrible with computers and technology and it makes me quite nervous so it's really nice of people like you to help this way. Really need my phone so thank you so much for all your help!
Nancy 🙂

You would just ask for your carrier to unlock the device for a new provider's SIM card.
You wrote that it's an old Samsung Galaxy. Phones purchased from a carrier (like Bell) since December 2017 must be sold unlocked, and older devices would be unlocked for free.

Thanks. I'm so confused can you spell it out to me what I should ask my previous carrier exactly? I ask them for a PIN for my new SIM card? thank you so much

Thanks but I'm confused because the message I have on my phone is that I need a pin # to unlock the SIM network. So I thought that meant I need something from Public Mobile because I just received and activated my Public Mobile sim card.
Very confused and frustrated and appreciate any help you can provide to guide me. Thank you

thanks. I was with Bell and just finished activating my new Public mobile sim card. Everything was going well (got confirmation from Bell to keep my old phone # and that the switch was done). When I went to verify that my phone worked I got a screen a message on my phone asking me to enter the PIN to unlock the SIM network.
It's an old Samsung Galaxy, so old that I had to activate the sim card on my wife's phone because we couldn't download the Public mobile app, and then took the card and put it back in mine.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

The PUK and PIN are two different things. Which do you need based on any on-screen error message shown on your phone's display?

You would have to contact your previous carrier and ask them to provide the PIN.

You will need to contact your previous service provider.

Are you switching to or from Public?
If you're switching to Public, you would have to contact your previous carrier for it. It should be free.
If you're switching from Public, an agent could help you through a ticket or private message.
Edit: I may have misunderstood this.
