Help! Followed instructions and now calls go straight to VM!

What a nightmare! I want more than 3 rings before VM picks up (prefer 5-6), so a rep told me to type: *61*16475804001*11*30#[+ CALL]. As soon as I did it, it messed up my main # and now all my calls go straight to VM. The next rep told me to type #61#+CALL to reverse it, but it did nothing!

I should also add that when I typed in the long string, I had my Zoomer SIM card in my phone by mistake, but even after doing the string with the PM SIM, it had no effect on the rings. My PM still only rings 3 times, but my priority now is getting my calls on my real #, which I was planning to port to PM soon.

I called Zoomer, in case it's related to their SIM, but nothing got fixed.

Does anyone know how to stop calls from going straight to VM?

On my iphone XR, in phone app, there is a toggle for visual voicemail.

great tips.  But Visual Voicemail option usually is hidden, yours is not?

After a week of all PM reps only telling me to enter *61*16475804001**30# + SEND to set # of rings, one rep told me that if I have visual voicemail, it must be deactivated first. After I turned it off, my ring/time settings took effect.

This finally worked but only after I reset network settings, thx 🙂

@rollme1kenobi

try :

*61*16475804001*11*30#  and then SEND for max 30 seconds wait (6 rings)

@rollme1kenobi

if you want to have the ring number works, you need to read that page and understand and try first

For example:

No Reply =  Redirects incoming calls when nobody answers Dial * 61 * + ten-digit phone number + # + SEND  . So, to redirect to Pizza Pizza  (604) 277-1111   when no reply just  *61*6042771111#   and Send or Enter on your phone

once tested, use this to cancel      #61#

I have no idea which to use from that link. There is no conditional forwarding, there is only unconditional and variable, so I have no clue. The command for unconditional is all broken up with an apostrophe in it so it is not the right command. this is seriously painful when you're very ill, this is a nightmare, and I still don't know what to do and the reps aren't helping at all.

from what I know, if conditional forwarding work, then number of rings would work

so, you need to test  if conditional forwarding work first.  Just set the different type of conditional forwarding to different numbers and confirm if it works.  If it does not work, then you now what to tell PM to fix

Don't guess, follow this and test them out first

A customer service rep told me my conditional forwarding was working, but I have just messaged them again to confirm this, thanks very much for the link. it is very frustrating that there are no reps that can call me and test my line. That is not the same thing as calling into support, and Public Mobile reps need to be able to call out to customers to test their service for them when they live alone and only have one phone, I am so beyond frustrated right now. I am missing all my calls and I am in very bad health.

I have tried both commands with "30" but my rings don't increase from 3-4. Can someone please help me?

i think you have everything you need

but I was told to be able to set the number of rings, it depends if your phone is VoLTE whitelisted on PM and you need PM to do something on the system to fix the conditional forwarding.

So, what phone you have?

and you asked PM specifically about the conditional forwarding?  if not,  you can open ticket with PM using the Orange Chatbot icon on the lower right. Type the question Submit ticket and select Contact Us to get to ticket open screen

or message them using this:

I am getting nowhere to set 6 rings before VM. Have an iphone XR. Was told to first enable Volte with *004*4166334300** + (number of seconds)# + send, but I get an error.

To set rings, I've been told *61*16475804001**[# of seconds]# + send.

My VM is all over the place, last caller doesn't even hear my phone #.

It has been three days and I can't afford to keep missing my calls (I am not well).

Can someone PLEASE work with me on this? Someone willing to coach and call my # multiple times if needed?

Unfortunately, Public Mobile doesn't provider over-the-phone customer service.  Public Mobile is very up front about that, so much to the point that they've had ad campaigns that almost make fun of itself saying that this is the cell phone company without a phone number.  The concept is to provide a self service model so that customers can get good value.

I would if one was available

can't you ask a friend to help to call you??

why not test it first.  It still work the same (you can still count the # rings ) even you use the app on the same phone

I don't see any free 2nd # app for iphone. Do you know of one?

rollme1kenobi
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

I was going to use it, but figured I need a separate device to count the rings accurately

Get free voip app and call yourself with it.

Do not provide your phone number here as it might be abused and/or used for spam.

@rollme1kenobi

download VoIP app Textnow.  You can use the app to make a call to yourself

I want 6 rings before VM, but think it's still at 3.

rollme1kenobi

So, I want to check how many rings people are hearing before my VM picks up, but I only have one phone and PM reps say they can't call out. Is anyone willing to help test for me?

I should be good, white list says iPhone 8 & later, and XR followed the 8. I don't see the Volte toggle in my settings with Public, I only have 3G or LTE, but with Zoomer Wireless I used to see the Volte toggle. thank you very much for the suggestion, I will contact support now about the conditional, forwarding and cross my fingers!

@rollme1kenobi

what phone do you have?  It has to do with VoLTE and conditional forwarding.  VoLTE seems to have broken the Conditional forwarding and Conditional forwarding is what helps to set the number of ring.

If your phone is on PM's VoLTE whitelist ( https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/volte )  , there is a chance support can fix it.  If it is on the whitelist, open ticket with PM support and tell them your Conditional forwarding is not working.  If they can fix it, then you can use the sequence to change the number of rings

I was given these commands by both users and reps: *61*16475804001*11*30# OR *61*16475804001**30# but neither worked to set ring to 30 seconds (6 rings), and my phone still only rings 4 times max before voicemail. Does anyone know a code that actually works to affect the # of rings??

This is a dealbreaker, I'll have to leave PM if I can't get 6 rings before voicemail, but I checked into this before porting over and assumed the commands worked!

Thank you so much for the fast reply and clear instructions, this community has been very helpful so far!

@rollme1kenobi

What you have:  *61*16475804001*11*30#[SEND or CALL] is for a 30 second delay, which is 6 rings, this is as much as you can delay

The number of rings is determined by the 'number of seconds to wait' before forwarding the call to your voicemail. Get your PM voicemail number from your Phone Dialer settings.

Dial this sequence: *61 *16475804001*11 *[then enter number of seconds to wait] # [SEND or CALL].

For the number of seconds to wait - choose from the following options:

For one ring, enter 5.
For two rings, enter 10.
For three rings, enter 15.
For four rings, enter 20.
For five rings, enter 25.
For six rings, enter 30 (This is the maximum number of rings/seconds).

SAMPLE: *61*16475804001*11*20#[SEND or CALL] - sets your phone to ring four times (20 seconds) before going to your voicemail. Best to check mailbox.
( also technically, dialing *61*16475804001*11*20# can be shortened to *61*16475804001**20# since voice service is assumed)

My porting in has completed successfully, but I need more than 3 rings before VM, would like 5-6 rings or 25/30 second setting. But I've been given different commands by online support reps and none have worked so far. The last one they gave me is:

*61*16475804001*11*30#[SEND or CALL].

Can anyone verify if this is the correct command that 100% works? I can't afford to risk this messing anything up and causing calls to go straight to VM.
