A few times in a row weird things have been happening with my reception when I get a phone call.
I live in a major city and my reception is 5 bars all the time (iPhone). Only when I get a call and answer it, after 5-6 seconds I lose the call because the reception changes to "No service". This state lasts for another 5-6 seconds then returns back to the 5 bars of full reception. So weird.....
Anyone experiences the same?

Thank you all for your answers. I also guess it has something to do with my device. I power cycled my iPhone and will keep an eye on it.

@ute1978 you've been around a while so I know this isn't a new activation. As has been suggested, do your reboot your phone periodically? If you haven't in a while, could you try that now and see if it makes any difference? I know it sounds stupid but I find rebooting my phone every 3-5 days or so really make a big difference in avoiding "weird" issues that can crop up over time. This may or may not be helpful to your situation.
The other thing I might suggest (with my limited iPhone knowledge) is to connect your phone to iTunes to see if there are any carrier updates available, perhaps?

@ute1978, ok these may be stupid questions, but have your tried the following simple troubleshooting steps?
- power cycle the phone
or
- power down, remove the sim, power back up
or
- soft reset of iPhone (not factory reset)
or
- trying your sim in another unlocked phone.
or
- trying trying someone else PM sim in your phone, if available.
Hope this helps.

It might be a coverage issue in the area or a phone issue. Data connection is on LTE, phone calls are on 3G. The reception is not the same. If 3G coverage is spotty, it is conceivable to have call disconnects. This does seem odd for a major city given that Telus has a very mature 3G network. I know nothing about iPhones, if it's possible, select 3G as the preferred network and check for reception issues. Otherwise, problem is likely in the phone software.

Its likley a phone isssue. do you have an old phone you can pop your sim into? if you dont have the issue when sim is in the old phone then you can start troubleshooting your iphone or call apple.
