Freedom Mobile

Why is it you are offering Freedom mobile customers to make the switch to Public Mobile to get 4GB data on a 4G network for $40 a month but an existing customer cannot get the same benefits. I have been with you for 6 yrs and you drop me to 1GB data and up me to $43. Seems quite unfair, maybe it's time for me to switch.

@rottenbabee, I truly believe you are mistaken about the ads on buses, as Public Mobile only recently has promoted in a physical presence in Walmart and Wow Mobile stores.

i do know there is a widespread Freedom Mobile advertising blitz on Public Transit vehicles, as I've seen it very recent in my city.

This past spring, Pioneer, and legacy customers, which I believe you may be, were alerted to price changes to their plans, and were given the minimum 30 day notice to do various things such as changing to Koodo, accept the price change and keep the service as is, or change to then current in market pricing plans.  There have been 4 or 5 different promos since that time.

if your plan did increase automatically, the price jump sounds like it was wrong, and you'd have a right to complain.  However, if you've changed you plan of your desire, you e increased the cost yourself.

@rottenbabee all new plans are only forum support, no call center, but are eligable for rewards (community loyalty, and autopay and referals)

so in your case  do in your case if lookig at any current public moblie pland you could get instatly $7 off/month ($5 loyalty and $2 autopay)

  • 2gb/month (6gb provincial calling at 3g speed would cost you 126 on 90 day term  = 42/month - 7 = $35/month for
  •  3gb/month woudl cost $40  same formula as above
  • 2gb LTE = $43/month same formula as above
  • 3gb LTG =$53/month same formula as above

@neatooo yes my plan went up 5 mths ago.   You  mean if you dial 611 on your phone you can't get the call centre?

6 yrs and your plan fee increased? Does that mean you are on a grandfathered plan and have access to the call center?

Be great if someone from @CS_Agent could weigh in if there is any way I still get the 4GB on 4G for $40 on a 30-60or 90 day plan?   Should get something for 6 yrs of loyalty I think

@rottenbabee, I can tell you definitively that the old Freedom promo is not being offered up anymore.  I asked much earlier if there was any grace being offered and the answer was no.  This is the nature of the beast with this service; there is no loyalty department to offer perks not listed on the website.

@rottenbabee Perhaps consider one of the "3G" data plans, since you do not use a lot? The provincial calling, global texting with 6 GB data is on sale for $126/90 days.

I have tested the new 3G vs LTE and found In general, that compared to LTE performance, 3G was good for browsing, streaming video including Netflix, and uses its data allowance much slower. Uploading images and downloading apps, however, is much slower.

A friend of mine just switched to a 3G plan to get nmore data and seems happy.

@will13am might be able to give you some details about their loyalty plans after 6 months or other promos.

Most of the current promos from most providers are promoing 1gb plans I think.

If none of the PM plans are looking promising you can check out zoomer, but I would have to lose my 5$ loyalty if you are getting that by switching providers.

@ShawnC13 I was dealing with the 1GB of data but over the last 3-4 mths I am running out half way thru and they just recently put the price up which is why I am now looking.

@rottenbabee, really the ad is still on busses that is weird.  No you won't be able to get the fall promo pricing.  Big changes in the last month may make that promo a never to be seen again one.  But to my first post was that PM did originally offer the same promo to all customers as the recent Freedom one.  I could see being angry if you joined up after the fall promo and couldn't get the Freedom promo but the did run the Fall promo for like 3 or 4 months there was ample time for existing customers to get on this great deal.  You were obviously happy with your current plan and weren't looking to change until you saw the freedom ad.  I would keep checking the community here for future promos to see if something will work better for you.

@ShawnC13 I still see the Freedom ad on the side of buses.  I am sure the promo you are speaking about is over as well and won't be able to get that deal either

@rottenbabee, if you have been with PM for 6 years they had a promo in the fall that was open to everyone including existing customers and it was 12GB for $120 over 90 days.  Plus the Freedom Promo has been over for a bit so that was awhile ago as well.

Unless I am mistaken the freedom promo is now long gone. The current promos are open to all.

6 years congratulations. If you are on one of the newer plans I think you would get 5$ off for loyalty rewards.
