We are paying off a phone for our daughter with Telus. We just moved over to PM ourselves. Can we port over our device payments to PM? Or can we move her service to PM and leave device payments at Telus? Maybe this is a better question for Telus?

To port over your daughter’s number… your Telus account is all in the SIM card and it will be ported over to the PM SIM card not your phone. Once the 2 year contract have expired…her phone is unlocked and the phone is hers and she can port her number to any carrier.
You can port over in the day before the expiry date or on the day of the expiry date and DON’T cancel her account or if will be issue with porting over. If you port out long before the expiry date then you will need to pay off the balance.
You can pickup a SIM card from the Telus/Koodo/Mobile Klinik store.
Take note of her Telus account number (don’t use the IMEI of her phone), download the PM app on her phone, activate the SIM and follow the prompts to step 6.
Your Telus SIM will continue to work for about a couple of hours then power off her phone and switch to the PM SIM.

You would have to still pay whatever is owed to Telus. Your bill will not transfer over to Public Mobile. If you decide to port to Public Mobile then all that would be left at Telus is the payment for the phone.
