Data

Right now I pay monthly for "5gb of data at 3g speed". When I turn my data on, the top right corner of my phone where the data icon is always says "LTE+"

At times I find this runs very slowly. I recently bought a 5g phone.

My question is: is it possible to get data at 4g or 5g speed from public mobile?

I wonder if we'll ever see basic 5G access to the network, I'm not expecting data speeds personally at 5G but it would be awesome just to see we had access to those bands.

..and then we will see more post about why they data all used up within a day..

What people won't tell us is that they have clicked a 4K movie download and it is too late when they want to cancel it   🙂

more money for the telus gods ;), though as I said I doubt we'll escape the throttle on 5G bands, it just would be nice to have access for those of us who bought those devices for the long term.

Yes I am on 40 a month. Are you saying black Friday deals offer 4g?

@Jordor

 public mobile Plans with 3G data may reach download speeds of up to 3 Mbps, with the coverage and reliability of the LTE network. Speed and signal strength may vary with your device, configuration, Internet traffic, environmental conditions, applicable network management and other factors.

Black Friday deals only for New customer who activate online.

I know for sure Fido has it for 12GB for $40.  The advertised price is $50 but I think some shops can offer $40.

You will probably need to check different mobile stores for deals

@Jordor All current PM plans are 3G.  PM uses Telus and Bell towers but throttles the speed to 3G.

@Jordor

Not yet - there's only 3G here (please note, rebooting your phone and taking other measures aforementioned will NOT boost your speed to 4G or higher)

There's talk of retiring the 3G network over the next few years, so stick around!!!

AND by then, you'll have built up Loyalty rewards which will even further reduce your cycle charges.

@Jordor  Are you currently on $40 plan?  If you need the 5G speed, check around for Black Friday deals.  There are good deals for $40 and above if you don't mind postpaid plans

@Jordor   Short answer is NO

PM plans are slightly cheaper cos the 4G speed is capped at 3Mpbs

You can try to connect with 3G Only , speed there is not capped and you could reach 12Mpbs, but also with higher latency
