why do I get a notification saying I’ve used up 75% of my data a few days after my plan has been renewed?

And of course if the notification were actually being generated by your phone rather than a text from Public Mobile…. You probably don't have your phones data use tracker set correctly. Remember that PM plans are 30 day plans, not 1 month so a data counter can work its way out of sync with your plan.

It's either an errant text message or it's possible your data counter did not reset upon renewal. Add up the two 12 hour blocks of time your data usage is reported daily to see if it aligns with the reported data usage on your data counter. Keep in mind that there is a lag in reportage in your daily usage pages so it won't be completely accurate but you will have a good idea if it's correct or not. You can also compare the usage in your phone if you have the correct 30 day cycle dates entered. If you believe your data counter has not reset contact customer support to reset your data counter.

Do you have the $15 plan? It could get there pretty quickly. Otherwise, as stated, it is most likely a text sent an error which does happen with PM sometimes.

Sometimes PM sends these SMS out of blue...
Best data tracker is on your account. If it says you are good then you are good.

@firemonkey - check your self serve account, https://selfserve.publicmobile.ca/Overview/, and see if you what data you have remaining on your plan. The overview section would be the most accurate level of data you have remaining:
If this was a text from 611 you received and it does not match what is showing in your account, then you could safely ignore the message.
If this was a device notification, then check the settings in your phone. You can have notifications set at certain levels of usage to warn you on a device level, or you can shut those off completely.
