Data only plan receiving phone calls and voicemail

I've been happily and quietly using my grandfathered data only plan for the past 3 months without any concern up until the past couple of weeks where I have been receiving phone calls and voice mail alerts.

How is this happening when I do not have a voice plan attached to my sim card?

Double check your account to ensure the plan is correct. If so, suggest you just reboot your phone and ignore it.

SMS from Public Mobile will come through even without a texting plan.

There have been some reports of people's active phone numbers being reassigned. Not sure how this can possibly happen, but hopefully you're not in that camp. You said you have a data only plan, but I'm wondering what happens if you try to phone your number?
