How do data limits work, and what happens if I exceed them?

Thankfully there are no overages, so you either have data service or you don't. I won't repeat the rest of the answers already provided, but just wanted to highlight that because this is prepaid there are no overages.

If on 5G unlimited data  plan your data will be throttled to 512kbps once you deplete the monthly plan allotment. As for the rest of the plans once you use up the monthly data bucket that’s it until your next renewal .

And to add to @computergeek541 ....   If you happen to have one of the Christmas data gifts from Public Mobile, if for say you're on the $25 1GB plan...  once that 1GB is up, it will start using your Christmas data. But if you don't have Christmas data , you're pretty much done with data. Hence the reason PM wants people to start signing up for the new 5G plans with unlimited data.

For some 5G speed plans, the data is advertised as unlimited and speed will be reduce after the full speed data amount has been used.  For all other plans, data would stop working.
