Changing Province wide talk to Canada wide

Songra

Hi,

I signed up with public mobile when it had that deal of 12gb for 90 days about a year ago. Been good so far, but now I'd like to have canada wide calling instead of the province wide only. Is there a way to switch this particular part of the plan?

From what I can see you either have to keep adding mins in the add on section or change to a completely new plan.

Any ideas?

Thank You!

@Luddite  that calling card is a great addition for expanding the list of countries one can call as PM has a limited number of options.  caling cards never crossed my mind befror because of the hassle of  calling card numbers and pins, but in todays world there is always "an app for that".

@Songra This http://www.ciciphonecard.com/cicimobile is cheaper than PM's long distance but not by much. I have used their service in the past but decided PM was slightly better quality for the extra cost.

@Songra as others have said, please don't give up your promo plan unless you really need to.  There are ways to work around it, raning from fairly inexpensive for light usage (long distance add-ons) to free (VoIP solutions as @stonechucker has noted).  Let us know if you'd like any more info on either option (or both).

You could use Google Hangouts, or Fongo, or another similar app to call long distance, using a different number.

@Songra, if the data amount works for you the addons should be really considered..  $15 for 400 minutes and that is of you making calls all calls you receive don't go against this amount. How long does it take for you to make enough calls that add up to 6 hours and 40 minutes.  Funny if I think about it I am not sure if I talk that much on my personal phone, work phone is different though.

The old promo from last year is hard to beat.  I do make long distance calls from time to time and use the long distance add on option.  The cost of buying some minutes here and there is small compared to the monthly savings on the old plan.  @Songra, make sure you will really benefit from a plan change before making any changes.  There is no going back.

I would suggest you try a month with the add-on and see how much extra it costs you to have that service. If it turns out that you spend more on the add-ons than if you were to switch plans, then you should switch. Otherwise, keep buying add-ons.

Alternatively, you may be able to check your call log on the phone and estimate the amount of minutes you've used canada-wide calling and if it would be economical for you to go the add-on route or switching plans.

Yeah, I thought as much...I'd have to change my plan and would lose out on the deal I already have in place unfortunately. Well, thanks anyways.

If you are finding provincial calling is no longer working for you then you only options is to change to another inmarket one either PM or a different carrier (there is a crasy 10gb/month plan available for 60 that ends tomorrow....) only you can decide if the plan you have can suit your needs.

You can go into self-serve and click on "change plan".  I think the problem is that you won't be able to keep the 12gb that you currently have.  When changing your plan, you need to change to an in-market plan.  Unfortunately, you aren't able to modify your plan while keeping parts of a promotional plan.
