Any ideas what might be causing the issue? I sometimes get a second message window come up similar to start a new sms thread. I am using a Google pixel 7.

I can confirm this did the trick. It did take 3 different agents, I guess they ended shifts around the same time? My txt and mms is working fine with that chatr user. Many thanks to you and the others who helped me out!

The phone number setting in the Community profile doesn't actually do anything.  It can even be left blank and it will make no difference.

Hello again! It seems that my phone is still NOT working properly. Whenever I receive a picture, it comes in a separate text message. The shocking piece is that another phone number was added to the group. I deleted the text conversation. After some investigation, the second number was my initial number assigned by Public Mobile before my port was successful. @slusagm  Any ideas how to ensure that initial number is assigned to me?

yes, it is not a full uninstall.  When you go it Google Play Store, or the Google Message App info page, you only give you the option to "Uninstall updates".   But that is good enough.  It will return back to the old version it came with the phone. Then reboot it and go back to Update Google Message back to the latest version.

 Thanks for those details. I managed to uninstall the messages app. I was running the beta version too, not sure if that may caused this odd behaviour. I have opted out of the beta version. I no longer get double messages now.  Many thanks for your help as well as the others who replied so quickly. Awesome community here! Happy texting everyone!

@slusagm I was not successful. It seems that it’s not possible uninstall the app. Is there a step by step document on how to uninstall google messsages? Again,  I am using a Google Pixel 7.

Have you try uninstall and reinstall the Google Message yet?

Thanks to the overwhelming reply for my plea for help! Resetting network settings caused a number of photos to be sent to me right away. I had the download button prior to changing the setting. I have another issue which I did not mention. When I send this individual a photo attachment (mms) I get the same photo as a reply? Any ideas what else might be wrong. I have two chat windows in my messages app.

Edit: I did have RCS turned on!

@Johnny766876

Are you using RCS messaging?  If it is turned off, try turning it on.

Try Reset Network Settings

And next to try is to uninstall Google Message z then Reboot and Reinstall Google Message
