Cannot receive incoming calls

I am no longer able to receive incoming calls. Thankfully voice-mail is still working so I can call them back... .

They don't register as incoming,, missed or declined. There is no log of the call; I will just see vm notification pop up.

I am restarting the phone after I post this.

Is there anything else I can do? Or is it all 5G now like they warned us in March?

It's a samsung galaxy s10. I think SIM is 5-7 years old

Thanks!

Update got new (to me) 5G phone

Used old sim and can receive calls again

Thanks !

@slusagm

OP says she can make calls...just can't reliably recieve calls. If it was a VoLTE issue, I don't believe she could call out either. I think she should try her sim in a different cellphone to see if things improve.

@Karyathena1

don't buy a new Public Mobile sim card...they don't usually die (unless abused). The sim card you have will work on any currently offered plan within Public Mobile. Try it in a different cell, is my suggestion.

@Karyathena1

can you make calls?

you have a Galaxy S10, it is not on PM's VoLTE list, and that is likely the cause

PM uses Telus and Bell Network.  Telus is in the process or realigning some 850 Mhz channel on its 3G network for other use.  People who have phones that is not whitelist on PM VoLTE list (some older phones) and  those do not have 1900Mhz (phones that are not designed primarily for North America) will have voice trouble.

So, depends on the phone you have, it might not be something that can be fixed unless you change phone, or if your phone has VoLTE, then you can move to Koodo or Telus

but confirm if your phone's VoLTE is compatible with PM's network here:

I could ask afriend but what am i looking for? Just see if I can receive.calls?

I dont get all this stuff

If its.a.sim thing do I order from pm or buy anywhere? How do I keep.my number

Do I need a new sim? My phone is definitely not 5G compatible and PM warned in March that it may stop working after March 17th or so

My 5 or so year old sIM will work on 5G?

I'm like the other poster: I don't understand 5G VOLTE or sims

Yes I guess I'll need to order a new phone. It's annoying because I only buy new phones when the old one is slow and glitchy.  This one works fine. Except I can't receive calls lol kind of key.

It's weird that I can make calls

If you can make calls successfully, then it's not a VoLTE issue after all. You wouldn't be able to call on your cell ifr it was that.

Can you try the sim in a different cell ?

@Karyathena1

could you try your sim in a different (newer) cellphone. Sounds like a VoLTE issue.
