Cannot receive SMS

Gosu

Hi,

I ported my number from a internet phone service (voip.ms) to Public Mobile last night and now when it asks me for full access, it requires me to receive an SMS to complete verification. Issue is that my previous service with voip.ms didn't let me receive SMS so I am not sure what to do. Can I call them to verify? If so, what is the number?

Thank you

hi @Camera4617  OP @Gosu won't get any incoming calls and text until port is done.  Before it is ported, OP VoIP line will be fully functioning like before (so no text) and try Pm line can only make outbound calls and text and no inbound at all

 But after port is done, of course the PM line will be fully functioning

Yeah its enabled. I've contacted support to see what they can do about it.

Sure, but that doesn't mean you cannot get any SMS and this one might work. Did you enable it?

Ok thank you. I did send an email out to voip.ms support to request the porting out to Public Mobile. Perhaps I'll give it few more business days and come back for support if it hasn't resolved. Thank you for reply!

So to keep it simple, voip.ms service lets you make calls through wifi but when it comes to receiving SMS such as bank/2fa verification messages, it's not able to receive it. They even state it on their website too. There is more to it but it gets more technical.

How come you are not able to receive a SMS on voip.ms?

hi @Gosu you don't be able to login until the VoIP port is done since you cannot receive text on that VoIP kind af the moment.  And porting from VoIP carrier takes around 3 to 7 days

anything you want to login My Account to check might need to go through CS agent until port is done

@Gosu

Porting from VOIP service usually takes several days to complete.  Unlike mobile lines which takes a few hours.

You could contact customer service agent to see status of your activation/porting.
