yes, you can buy sim card there

or in your case, you probably want to buy a new sim card quickly, buy a Public Mobile sim from Telus or Koodo or Mobile Klink store

But we told you there is no other way without getting the sim card

Click on Purchase SIM Card and there will be an option for eSIM on the PM app.

I have tried to get an eSIM but the public mobile app does not have an option for eSIM and my new phone cannot take a physical SIM card. Is there anyway around this?

You cannot skip the port authentication text.  So, you need to buy a PM sim card and link it to yuru account, so you have service and you can reply to approve the port

 I have lost my old phone and need to port the number to bell but cannot access my account without the verification through the lost phone.

If you need to keep the number, then keep PM account alive, go and activate new provider and request porting 

If you don't need that number, login My Account -> Payment -> Manage Subscription and turn off "Subscribed" to stop Autopay
