no it never got resolved; I gave up and switched provider and everything is working with the new provider now; at even better deal!!

Similarly I had this issue when first signing up with not receiving text messages only. After restarting my phone and no solution I had to contact Public Mobile Customer Service and they reset the network for me.
Contact a CS_Agent regarding your issue and the will assist you further.
