I have a used cell phone and the IMEI is compatible with publicmobile, but I need an unused number. Can publicmobile issue me an unused number once I have my SIM card? If not, how can I get one?

I have to agree I do like the apn-canada site better myself as well. Yes during the process you can choose a new number or port one in. You can even look through the options they list and pick a number you like. I am not sure but you even might be able to search for a number, but I am not sure as I ported directly over from Rogers

@dingaling, just because the IMEI checked out doesn't mean the phone will work with PM. That only checks to see if the phone is on the lost or stolen Blacklist. Not knowing what type phone you have I would suggest going to a site like www.willmyphonework.net or https://apn-canada.gishan.net/ to see if the phone is compatible

@dingaling you can't really tell if a number was previously used or not but there are some clues
If you activate a phone choose a new / recent exchange you stand a much better chance getting a new number (and stay away from popular number combinations)
In general I would argue simply taking the most complicated number is usually easier though (since new exchange could be long distance)
