[Cambridge] Can't receive or send texts

Sle3man

Hi Everyone,

Is anyone else in the Cambridge area having this issue?

I've been a customer for one year and haven't had any issues so far, and have been enjoying the service ever since! 🙂

However, I discovered an issue yesterday when a coworker called me saying they weren't receiving my texts.

It appears that I can't seem to be able to send or receive texts on my Oneplus One. I tried to restart the phone several times, switched on/off airplane mode, and even tried to text with my old Galaxy Nexus.

I tried to text 6 other people but none of them claimed to receive my texts. I also asked them to text me, but I didn't receive their texts.

The strange thing is that I can make/receive phone calls and use data with no issues.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for all the suggestions, and guess what?

I emailed PM support and my issue was fixed!!!

I later found out that my texts were still going out, and being routed to PM, but wasn't being sent out to the recipient, or vice versa to myself. I discovered this when I tried to send a text to a friend in the US. I would get a text message from PM saying "we do not offer text messaging outside of Canada at this time."

Turns out my texting service wasn't provisioned, and Ashley looked at my account information and resolved it.

Kudos to Ashley for the quick fix, as I was able to receive texts again on the day of a party I was throwing!

@Sle3man I'm in Guelph area, and haven't had any issues. Maybe it's an Android problem like some others have mentioned. Hopefully you get it figured out. Did you change your plan recently, and maybe since then this issue has been happening?

@Sle3man as strange as it sounds, when this happens on an Android phone, switching texting app can often do this.  It's worth trying Textra or Chomp or some other 3rd party app.

You could also try powering off, removing your SIM card for 5 mins or so, then reinserting and powering back on..

Failing that, you could try rebooting to recovery and wiping your system cache to see if that helps.  If that still doesn't get you up and running, you unfortunately need to do a factory reset, which will wipe all your data off the phone.  So first make sure you back up anything you want to keep that isn't already backed up or sync'd to a cloud service.

Hi NDesai,

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked and confirmed that my plan has "Unlimited International Text".

Login to your self-serve account and make sure you have text included. Try using another texting app like Textra or Messenger.
