Calling and receiving calls not working in the U.S

I have the canada-us plan with 60GB and the data and text is working fine in southern states. My husband has the same plan and all works fine on his phone. Also,  I even paid for a roaming plan to see if that would help for the time I will be in the United States. However the phone calling still won't work.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Nothing ended up helping. The data worked fine for messages and internet.

I'm back in Canada and all works fine again.

For your information:

The phone is an android Moto E.

It's 3G or LTE

My husbands phone is newer and a lot more expensive. So he's getting me an updated phone that will cover this issue for my next visit to the U.S.

@CybeleG  The reason calls can be problematic for US roaming is that some phones are not VoLTE (voice over LTE) enabled and there is no longer a 3G network in the USA for such phones to fall back to.  It's likely that your husband's phone is VoLTE capable and enabled but yours is not (what phones do you have?).  In that case you need to try and connect to T-Mobile's 2G network, where it is available.  If you  have problems on the Canada/US plan it's unlikely the roaming add-on would make any difference.  If you still can't connect for voice calls after trying @Sansan  's suggestions please post back and let us know.  If your phone is set to 5G that can be problematic for roaming on AT&T hence the suggestion to set to 4G/LTE in the US (other than dropping to 2G if necessary on T-Mobile for voice calls).  If you want to try and get compensation for the add-on you can contact PM customer service by private message via this link

If possible, put your phone to 4G/LTE and connect to T-Mobile or AT&T.

If calls still don't work, put your phone to 2G and connect to T-Mobile. From the settings menu, turn on data roaming

I hope this will be helpful.
