Learn from my mistake.
On Oct 28, 2018 I signed up for PM with the $10 Talk + Text plan and also purchased an add-on of $10 3G Data plan. Uncertain about the speeds of a 3G network, I ran a speed test expecting to consume about 30-40 MBs of my Bandwidth quota. But lo and behold, I could only complete the download test — showing speeds in excess of 120 mbps — that consumed my entire data add-on of 200 MBs. The test stalled before even completing the upload test.
I’m left wondering if it’s 3G or LTE. Whatever it’s, take my advice and don’t venture into speed-tests sunless you have a lot of data to spare.

Its good advise to those new.
Sometimes I do these test in different area, it will rank up 1GB very quickly on LTE, especially its your addon.
Have fun!

The amount used largely depends on the website that you are used. One of the more populatr sites, speedtest.net is a data hog. It is set to use up more data the faster your connection is.
I've used up more than 500MB in a single test before, so your 200MB usage is of no surprise to me.

They're fine if your wondering how fast your connection is capable of if by chance, you're on a prepaid plan at Public Mobile with no chance of overage fees, and are also on the last day of y our biling cycle with nothing to lose.
But yeah, the speeds are out of hand anyway. I would say that there's very little reason to need 300Mbps+ download speeds for mobile data, and still even very little reason for most customers to even need that for a home internet connection. Until the day that cell phone companies offer data amounts that are able to compete with home internet offerings, these types of speed only make consumers use up data and get charged overages (other carriers) faster.
The amount of data is usually going to be more important than the speed of data. With the low amount of gigabyes in cell phone data plans, your usage buckets are going to be far more of a barrier than even lowly 3Mbps download speeds.

Yup. If you don't have data in your plan then the add-on defaults to LTE. If you have 3G data in your plan then the add-on will be 3G and likewise LTE.

@sa7375 all data at PM is LTE, either full or throtled.
if you have talk and text, and just buy the data addon you are given full speed LTE data speed.
also on new activations if you buy a 3g plan it takes a couple days for the throttled lte to take effect.
its a good learning experience 🙂
