Anyone experienced dropped calls after using for extended period?

So I was calling a friend of mine who LOVES to talk, and after about 3 hours it just disconnected for no apparent reason.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?  Because i was thinking about recommending PM to him but if this has happened before, then this definately isn't the provider for him..

In all my years with phone companies, cutting a call that has been going on for long period of time is very common. 3 hours is actually decent call length. Some companies cut you off at 1-2 hours.

I have read about other Public Mobile customers saying this happened to them.

However, I cannot say that I share your experience about this being common.  The only company that I have experienced anything like this with has been Wind Mobile who automatically disconnects any and all calls at exactly the 2 hour mark.

In the past, I've also used Mobilicity (although I never tested any call limit with them), Rogers, Telus, Bell, Solo, Koodo, and Fido, and none of them have ever disconnected a call on me due to length.  This includes multiple 4 to 5 hour calls in my younger days and even a 9 hour call that were left off the hook by accident at both ends on an unlimited weekend.  So my experiences has been that disconnections  based on call length are very uncommon.

I haven't had it happen yet, but haven't exceed 3 hr continuous. I've heard of other providers doing something similar but most blame the handset's as the problem .
