Just got a nice new phone with android 8.1 and none of the default APN settings work with public mobile.
Also I am unable to create or edit APN settings either ??? What is going on ????

Yup, I have the Google Pixel 2 and i can neither edit the APN setting nor add a new one.

This is the APN settings for Public Mobile. It is not android version specific.
According to this Reddit post, carriers can request to have apn editing locked. This has the effectiveness of being a replacement for SIM lock. What phone is involved here.
