Did you just pay for it or did you use the money on your account to purchase it?
If you just paid but didn't make purchase then you can just leave money there and it will be used for your renewal.
If you did purchase add-on but it wasn't used and is still intact you may yet reaching out to moderators and asking them to revert charges and remove it. No guarantees though.
Was it a roaming add-on? Many people confuse it with regular add-ons

@irishgirl012 What add on did you buy? If it's anything other than one of the US roaming packages, it will just stay on your account until such time as you do use it all up. Otherwise, what @Triguy and @BeachNBeer said.

You would probably be better to keep the add-on as it does not expire and will roll over to the next month until it is used up.

Public mobile does not issue refunds but if you generally made an error contact mods to see if they will make an exception.
