Recently received the following message, and followed instructions as advised, but the rewards didnit showup on account.

When you get message, did you type "YES2" ?

Did you get this after replying "YES2" ?
"Public Mobile: Your 2GB bonus one-time data add-on and your 500 international long-distance bonus minutes one-time add-on has been added to your account. The data and the minutes will remain on your account until fully used up. See in Self-Serve."

Try logging into your account using a different browser in incognito or private mode instead.
Then do a refresh on your account page.
You were probably looking at old cached information before.

@m87ie could be just cache problem and you are still viewing cached page
first try to use Incognito mode to login to My Account and see if you see the bonus addon there
if not, then open ticket with PM Support and they will add it for you
