Activation step 2. How to transfer my old phone number over.

Hi there,

When I activate my new SIM card, I don't know how to transfer my old phone number over.

Is my SIM card activated or not?

Thanks

Hello @Harry2020 ,

Insert the Public Mobile SIM. Do you have any services?

EDIT: if you do have services then follow @dabr instructions to message the moderators to port in your number, if you set up a temporary one upon activation.

If you just ported your phone number from another cell provider it could take a few hours to complete the port. Using the other cell provider's SIM you should be still receiving calls on it, until the port completes.

If you ported from a landline it could take up to 7 days to complete.

Make sure you do not cancel your previous provider's services until the port is complete.

If your credit card was charged and you have no services call the Porting Team at *** to assist with your port.

@Harry2020   You would have had the option to port in your number at activation, if you didn't do that, you'll now need to message moderators via the chatbot bubble bottom right of your screen and type in Port Request and follow the prompts.  They will facilitate the porting for you.

If you're unable to connect via the chatbot then send a private message to Moderator_Team via this link with the same subject heading: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/composepage/note-to-user-id/22437

Hi @Harry2020

During the activation process, there'll be a section where you can indicate you'll want to port from another provider.

Be sure to have your account number from your old provider, (i presume it's an existing service still), then enter that to identify the number to be transferred.

You'll get a text message from your current supplier to confirm the transfer, be sure to keep your other provider SIM card in your phone to receive, and approve, that text.

See below for more information on porting numbers:
