I'm unsure whether the customer @Judithee is asking to activate a new device or to activate a new Public Mobile account.
There are actually phones that do in fact need to be activated. All iPhones devices need to be activated through the Apple activation servers before they can be used.

if you are existing subscriber with physical sim, just move it over to the new phone. But if you are existing with esim, you will need to download the PM app, login and rebuy new esim from Account page, choose Puchase sim card and choose esim

@Judithee IF you're a new subscriber, simply download the app to the phone you wish to use, and follow the prompts. you will either need a physical sim (available from amazon for about $5) or you can download an e-sim if the phone is compatible. IF you have an account and want to upgrade to the new phone, simply swap the physcial sim from old to new, reboot and go.... or download app and e-sim to the new phone and update your detais in the my account page.
