My brother in law has a flip phone that is 4G and I've read that Public Mobile is discontinuing 4G service!

the flip phone might not be able to get voice calls once the 3G network is sunset.  check if the phone can use VoLTE on PM network, use the IMEI checker:

@BillyBob141306   Public mobile is not shutting down 4G service , but are shutting down 3G network .so your all good with 4G phone even if on 5G plan no worries . And public mobile still offers 4G plans too BTW
