I have received a message saying that my phone is using 3G(even though I have LTE 4G) and is shutting down in my area, and Public Mobile has teamed up with Telus. I currently live in Calgary, but my mobile plan is from Manitoba .Does this sound legit

@Cosmos77 Telus system is shutting down 3G in Manitoba at the end of this year.  But for the rest of Canada, 3G will still be around for another 2 years

if you live in Calgary, you won't be impacted by the shutting down of 3G in Manitoba this year.  You got the message just because you have a MB phone number.  You can ignore the message for now.  But you should start shopping for a new phone that is compatible with PM's VoLTE system as the 3G decommissiong will still come to AB in 2 years

@Cosmos77

It is a legit text message from Public mobile.  PM has been testing different customer's phones to see whether their phones will have issues with Telus network changes.  Which model phone are you using?  Is it VoLTE compatible with PM network?  With that text message, your phone is likely not VoLTE compatible.

Public mobile has been changing the 3G network (switching 3G 850 MHz band to LTE).

If your phone is not VoLTE compatible with the PM network and the 850 MHz 3G band is not available in your area, your talk services will be affected. Here is some information about VoLTE compatible phones with PM:
