I received a text say that due to #G usage I was getting a fee increase. Using your tool I checked my IME and the results said that my phone is VoLTE compatible and has 5G speed.
So why the increase?

I had the same issue. In my case, part of the responsability was mine: I had not correctly configured my esim and my phone was still using the 3G network when available. Other than than, contacting the cs-agent worked.

If PM's IMEI checker confirmed it is VoLTE compatible, then you won't got charged the extra $5
But you can reach out Public Mobile support to clarify your current phone with them
