$34 or $40 Plan?

Curbot

New Public Mobile customer here — signed up for the Black Friday $34/40GB deal and set to auto-renew tomorrow with the Boxing Week $40/60GB plan. Wondering how many other subscribers are doing this?

My usage for the past 29 days, mostly for speed tests. 😅

I keep going back and forth as to whether I should switch plans or not. I can afford to pay more; on the other hand $34 is less than I've ever paid for wireless service. The $40 plan has a cheaper cost per GB, but only if I actually use all 60GB offered with it.

What would you do? Thanks in advance!

That makes perfect sense @Handy1 , and is a much wiser move.

You had me a tad worried for a bit otherwise given your prior screenshots of earned rewards.

😉

@HALIMACS  Yes sorry . I didn’t explain quite so well I gave up an account that had no referrals no community engagement  and was on the new point system . Was started 1 month ago on the black Friday 40GB for $34. . So when I saw the 50GB for 34 this month I just created new account using new email  . All I lost was one points reward earned for bill payment . Nothing to lose sleep over so why not start of fresh again and I get more welcome points anywyas and new bill points payment also . That make better sence

Not following @Handy1 , unless you are keeping 2+ services.

If you're keeping the newly created account ONLY, then have you not forfeited all refer-a-friend credits from the prior account as well as any loyalty?

Am I missing something here?

@HALIMACS  That’s true but anyone I referred or set up don’t use the community they just come ask me if they have issues . So no loss there for anything earned and as far  as community rewards go where are they they haven’t given me my nov 2023 rewards and we 2 days away from 2024 . So the rewards are a moot point . Getting more data for same price paid makes most sence

@Flameotter @Yes the 50 GB for $34 had only  ever been offered for new activations only

@Flameotter  The account have up to take the 50GB $34 plan was only on the new points system so to me there no loss . I wouldn’t have given up old rewards to do it . But the points accounts are expendable in my view

@Handy1 Was it only for new activations during Black Friday and Cyber Monday? I only saw it mentioned in the forums after I snagged the $34 for 40GB 5G Deal. I thought I missed out on the 50GB, but if it was only for new activations during Black Friday I feel a little better since I'm uncertain if I would have switched for it.

@Flameotter

Refer-a-friend and loyalty credits would be kaput on the new account and would start afresh.

Auto-pay/Subscription benefits (5% public points) and Community rewards would still occur if @Handy1 associates their Community profile with their Service profile.

@Handy1

Did you lose all your built up credits?

Or did you get them applied to the new account also?

The 50GB for $34 was actually offered during black Friday for new activations also . But only for couple hours

No, it didn't show up during Black Friday, @Flameotter

The $34 for 40GB was available to all during Black Friday.

The $34 for 50GB showed up as a Boxing Day deal, but only for new subscribers.

@Flameotter  Yes it’s still there for new activations only . So I got rid of my other pm account that had then40GB for $34

@Handy1

Did the $34 for 50GB 5G Show up for Boxing day this time? I missed it by minutes, seconds or hours during the Black Friday <-> Cyber Monday Deals. I managed to grab the $34 for 40GB.

@Curbot  If you don’t need the data stick with your 40GB  for $34 . If you think you may need some extra breathing room for data then go for then60GB for $40

add or you can do what I did I was in the 40GB for $34 and saw the 50GB for $34 so I just created new account with new email and took the 50GB for .$34 . Then same price and 10GB more breathing room @Curbot

That's only a question you can answer @Curbot

Examine your GB usage over the past several months and determine if you feel you will ever exceed 40GB

It really is alot of data - however individual requirements may vary. 🙂

Additionally @Curbot :   a speedtest can use upwards of 100MB (but usually around 50MB) per test.  So if you've done a lot of those, subtract those from your calculation when determining data needs.
