I went to this website, entered my address, and 1 week later received 3 FREE SIM in the mail. ( This website xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx )
Is this REAL or FAKE website? Now I am wondering if I should use the Free SIMS? Is this *possibly ? * SIM card skimming/fraud website? Or is this Public Mobile affiliate website, and this person gives out free SIMS to get free phone plan referral $ credits?
The SIM cards and the SIM envelope packaging I received in the mail is IDENTICAL to the Public Mobile SIM i bought in the store for $10 each. So I feel like these SIMS are "real", but wanted ask PM community before I put a SIM card in my phone.
Thanks

I wouldn't be concerned about the the SIM cards being fake or the person having the name and address to mail the SIM cards to. The SIM cards are probably fine. The issues with this thread was the posting of a site link that would be sending referrals to the person who created that website (when referral advertising isn't allowed here) and to discourage possible Public Mobile copyright infringement. Mostly likely, the website creator simply wants referrals.

I temporarily hid the discussion because of the nature of the topic. The mentioned website is a referral website. As members are not allowed to advertise referral code on this message board, it wouldn't be right to have links to a website that was created entirely for that purpose either.

The website mentioned absolutely is NOT a Public Mobile website. People are allowed to have websites to try get referrals, but those should not be linked to on this Community message forum. Also, people setting up such website could possibly get into trouble due to copyright infringement, so it's important that that anyone setting up such websites not use any portion of the Public Mobile website coding or the company logos.

I am unable to show the "fake website" link. Guess its fraud scammer website I am told by users here. Website looks IDENTICAL to real public mobile. It tricked me. Probably tricked many more. I found the website by google, so its easy to find on first page

I knew there was a site copied PM last year but wasn't aware it was still a functioning site, my mistake. Up until today I always used the server to access public mobile after 10 years I realized there's an app to which I downloaded this afternoon

as I told OP earlier, it is not the original site got hacked, just people host another similar URL and copy everything from the official site. It is called Phishing. it's not anything new,

It is not about the eversafe layout change
the link @BLACKHAT posted earlier is a scammer site that copy PM official site.

HI @BLACKHAT
don't need to lose trust with PM just because you got into one of the scammer's site
But a real sim card from:
Telus or Koodo store https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/pick-up-SIM
Amazon.ca https://www.amazon.ca/Public-prepaid-postpaid-Activate-Allinone/
(this Amazon link is sold by Public Mobile, so it is PM's official store on Amazon)

Yes the website looks identical to public mobile website, so i didnt know its fake. I dont think I want public mobile now, this all seems so fishy with hacking. I am too scared
HI @BLACKHAT
are you existing subscriber?
on the other hand, you don't have to "scare" that much. People make fake bank site, fake CRA site. You just try not to click on those fake site and not to enter any info there.

@BLACKHAT wrote:So I am still confused about this.... can sim cards be hacked or something? I honestly never thought twice about fake sims until I told friend to go online and order free sims, and they joked "nothing is free in life is it real?". And so I asked question here. So is this how phones are hacked... you put the sim card into phone and your instantly hacked or something?
Why would they delete my question asking about this... wouldnt it be better to warn people about this?
HI @BLACKHAT
but you posted the fake site URL, you were helping out the criminals 🙂
I think you are ok to ask, but just don't post that link anymore 🙂

and @BLACKHAT
as those site owner intentionally copy PM site content, I think you should boycott using their service even they might just want to earn your friend referral. Copying commercial site to fake is a crime
and I saw people posted on other forum to sell PM accounts with friend referral code, this is another "crime" as I see

HI @BLACKHAT
you already given out your address then
I saw multiple "fake" sites online myself before.. They copied everything from PM site and make it looks real. Look like they are trying to earn the friend referral by asking you to use his code. But at the same time, they hope your addresses as well.
I would think the sim is real , but you can never tell if they have tempered the card.
I would avoid using them myself

HI @BLACKHAT
just to add, the 3 sim cards you order was not from proper source. It was not an offiical PM site (i wasn't aware that until you post it the second time).
So, if you got the sim card already, you already sent the scammer your name and address. Hope you didn't send the fake site more information.
