What is a data event?

There are phone calls going to unfamiliar numbers in my usage and it says it's a data event.

If the "data event" consumed 0.000KB of data in Self-Serve then it's an MMS attachment. They're "unlimited" (free) at Public Mobile, even though they're sent across a data connection.

There are other types of "data events" - different SMS and EMS protocols which can be augmented across data - I've intercepted some with a custom messaging app - but I never saw them reported in my Self-Serve usage.

MMS texts use data at no charge. If you attach an image or group text it will be an MMS text message. Normal SMS texts don't use data.
