What improvements would you like to see to PM—US Roaming Plans?

I question why the US Roaming Plan can not be purchased in advance for a future trip? It would allow those of us who travel piece of mind. I don’t particularly like the feature where the plan starts on the day one pays. What if one’s trip is for 10 days and there’s a flight delay? I hope Telus considers this.

And having to wait 10 days to expire in order to purchase another 10 days is not any better. I tried doing this while I was out of Canada and it didn’t work.

So for those who actually stay in the US for ten days and can consume what they paid for, they are getting one day's cost in other provider plans. The issue is when you are transitioning through the US and need service on your hop out of NY or Atlanta, and then you require another package for your return if it is past those 10 days...

Maybe NA airports will follow the EU in providing at least WiFi since a lot of processing requires the use of smartphones. All boarding passes and declarations can be had on a device to speed things up...

My first 10 days worked. The problem was in getting an extra 10 days added which wasn't possible.  Being able to pre-schedule and purchase a full roaming plan before one leaves on a trip would be great and something Telus should consider.

@cory_c- Well, for starters, Public would only roam in Puerto Rico if that. Maybe US Virgin Islands? So under this topic, sure, it would also be a suggestion to have more roaming countries.

Before Covid, while in the Caribbean I tried to extend my plan via my account and it was not allowed. So I called and I'm not sure where the customer service was from but they couldn't help resolve the issue. Good thing that my daughter was with Telus and so I had to use her plan. No matter what, it's inconvenient having to renew after 11 days on an extended trip. Some countries, especially the Caribbean, you have to rely on a mobile phone.

would be nice if we can re-buy right a right when data all used or expired

or buy more than one block (like 2 x 10 days in one shot)

I prefer Koodo's booster system over PM's 10 day setup for US roaming options.  This allows for US boosters to carry forward each month and only expire when they have been used up.

Unfortunately the US booster offerings are quite spartan and expensive... $20 for 500MB or $5 for 50MB data or $20 for 1000 texts or $20 for 250mins of US calling..

Honestly, I would rather PM just drop the US roaming and focus on providing VoLTE here instead.  It's clear to me they want you on their more expensive postpaid and retail tiers with pricey (yet "seamless") roaming.

The only known problem with having to wait 10 days (+ another day) is for talk. I don't know of (but there may be) a problem with text. But for data, you can buy one bucket and then some time during that 10 days you can buy a different bucket. They still have their 10 days and 1 to buy the same one though. You can also ask support to make it all happen whenever you need too. But obviously that can be a hassle.

If you're in and out of the states a lot, somebody around here is trying to hand over the old roaming plan. I don't know what the deal is.
