Peace Arch State/Provincial park / 0 Avenue

Metallic
New Neighbour / Nouveau Voisin

On the off chance that anyone has been near this location recently (June 2020)

is it busy there? are the walk thru gates sealed?

My understanding is the park on either side of the border is basically a no man's land, however the Canadian side is closed, while the US side remain open.

I ask cause I have pending plans to meet what I hope to be my happily ever after.

thank you in advance.

We just need both the federal/provincial governments to make wearing a mask, when going out, mandatory as the all the available information and some studies show that if the majority of people wear a mask when interacting outside their homes, the infection spread can be reduced dramatically.

@Korth  There is no imaginary risk. Even New Zealand had new cases after becoming COVID free. Only takes 1 infected asymptomatic/presymptomatic carrier to arrive in a new location to trigger an, initially, local outbreak. 😢

Seems to me we're stuck permanently (until a vaccine) managing the risk both to ourselves and the general population; masks indoors and at close proximity, lots of hand hygiene, quarantine with symptoms, contact tracing nand testing, only small intimate gatherings. All health care providers in PPE. No gatherings of more than 50 and then only if masked.

Biggest conceptual difficulty is that my personal risk during one risky event is very low BUT an infected person puts 10+ people at risk when a group engages in risky, albeit emotionally satisfying, behaviour.

Hmmm, could've sworn that I heard it on Global News, sometime this past week, that it was closed again..... maybe it was just that they were considering closing it again..... 🤔

Seems like the park remains open for international connections.

And it seems like not everybody is happy about it:

If you leave Canada or have contact with anyone from out of Canada - or have contact with anyone else who has - then employers in BC can choose to disallow you from their workplace for a period of quarantine. Enforcement varies, and of course there are people who ignore the rules. I would wear masks and use hand sanitizers anyhow, it's a public site and it's a closely-monitored international border, the risk of disease from your contact may or may not be real but the risk of everyone else becoming aggressively paranoid about it seems quite substantial. Nobody wants to catch it and nobody should carelessly increase the (real or imagined) risk of others catching it - especially in a monitored, policed, sensitive public area.
