I'm sure there are many public complaints already about this but in the off chance they actually read these forums, it is seriously a massive loss to have lost the $2/m reward. Things like this buy loyalty.

Stay on the rewards program and it's not going anywhere.

Please clarify. You say auto pay isn't going anywhere. Do you mean the $2 reward for auto pay isn't going anywhere?

New customers since January 25th 2022 are on the points program. Other than getting points to redeem instead of $$ directly off your bill the main difference is no $2 autopay reward you get 5% back in points. The $40 plan being the break even point : 5%=2pts=$2
Instead of loyalty rising from $1/yr off per 30 days to $5/30 days after 5 years=$60/year.
Anniversary points start after the first year =10pts=$10 But you only ever get 10 pts/year.
However loyalty gets delayed if suspended more than 60 days but anniversary points do not. Points get to redeem for discounted add ons or enter the lucky draw but rewards are $$ in your pocket.

So what is the points program? Is that what we are on currently? been here for about 20 months,,,
Will suspending payment while abroad impact this?
Thanks 😁

As long as you don't switch to the points program autopay isn't going anywhere. Stick with rewards. anew customers have no choice but the points program.

It's unfortunate that in pursuit of pure profit telus stripped away the rewards program from new customers and replaced it with the points program which requires a lot more active participation by the user to benefit from it but the core value remains if you choose to make it work in your favour.
While the easy $2 reward for autopay has disappeared the break even point...in points is the $40 plan. Earning 2pts=$2 with 5% back. Community and referral rewards still have the same value but it's the loyalty reward replaced by anniversary points that take the biggest hit over the long term. If you are motivated to earn points to save money then it can be done it's up to you to decide how much effort you want to put into it.
