What is a PUK Code?
Ever been locked out of your own phone because you entered the wrong PIN too many times? It's frustrating, right? Well, that's where your Personal Unlocking Key, or PUK code, comes into play. Think of it as a master key that helps you regain access to your phone by unlocking your SIM card.
Why Do I Need a PUK Code?
If you've entered an incorrect PIN three times on your SIM card, your phone will automatically lock itself to safeguard your personal data. While it might seem annoying, it's actually a feature designed to protect you. To get back in, you'll need this magical 8-digit PUK code to reset your SIM card's PIN.
How Do I Find My PUK Code?
Great question! If you ever find yourself in this dilemma, we've got you covered. Here's how you can find your PUK code:
When Would I Need My PUK Code?
While it's not something you'll need daily, it's crucial in specific situations. These include:
Safeguard Your PUK Code
Once you get your PUK code, keep it somewhere safe and accessible. This is not something to scribble on a scrap of paper and forget. Think of it as your phone's "emergency escape key." If your SIM card ever locks up again, this is the code that will bail you out.
Wrapping Up
So there you have it. Your PUK code is a small but mighty number that can save the day when you need it most. Whether you've entered the wrong PIN or are switching devices, knowing how to find and use your PUK code can be a lifesaver. Keep it safe, and keep on chatting, texting, and browsing worry-free!

@J_PM , this is another post that seems like your post should be in the ‘Get Support’ or similar section not ‘The Lounge’!

I've never been locked out of my phone but I had an old tablet that I hadn't used in a long time and forgot the password for it and got the message something like..."You've typed an incorrect password or pin too many times, your device has been locked. Try again in an hour" is this the same kind of thing with the sim... Is it something new? And will you never be able to unlock the phone without the PUK code if this were to happen?

Yep, you will need internet access somehow to reach out to support if you need a PUK code. I tend to agree with @Korth_ that the PUK code could be safely stored within the online account and customers can memorize it.

- Stay Tuned: Keep an eye on the Public Mobile Community or your email inbox. You'll receive a notification when a Customer Support Agent has responded.
Why is all this necessary?
Why not simply display the PUK somewhere in the (Self-Serve) account information? (Like certain other providers do, lol.)
What extra "security" and "protection" does submitting a ticket/etc provide to the subscriber? All the bot and the CSA are going to do is confirm identity with information which is already displayed elsewhere in the Self-Serve information. A thief who steals your phone will be able to answer all the CSAs questions if that phone has the app installed or has stored Self-Serve login sessions.
I would personally prefer to be given keys and an explanation of what they can lock or unlock. Information, education, empowerment. The opposite of being kept deliberately uninformed, powerless, in the dark.

It might be useful to include a primer on SIM PIN lock. I am sure a lot of customers don't know what this is all about.

Is the lounge to be renamed the Knowledge Base? It certainly doesn't seem to be the place for all things not related to phones or public mobile?
