Attention all Public Mobile people who like to roam in the USA and any people who DO NOT have a VoLTE Phone!!! (Your phone service won't be affected in any way while in Canada, only will be affected if you don't have a VoLTE Compatible phone on Public Mobile and are going to the USA after April 2nd.)

T-Mobile has announced that they are shutting down their 2G Network, so anybody who has a 3G or a non Voice over LTE Phone will not be able to make calls and send texts. If you have an LTE Compatible phone but not a VoLTE compatible phone, and are considering roaming in the states after April 2nd, then you cannot, you will need to upgrade to a newer phone. (View PM's Whitelist of VoLTE Compatible phones on their network (Will still be whitelisted in USA Roaming even if AT&T or T-Mobile say that it is compatible with their network). View if your phone is compatible here: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/volte. )

If it is not whitelisted on the link above, then you may want to consider upgrading to a VoLTE Phone if you are eyeing on a trip to the USA, if not, your phone service won't be affected in Canada.

Update: T-Mobile Reconsidered and they are taking down 2G Towers one-by one, so we don't have a clear knowledge of what towers are going or not, but it depends on where you are going to visit in the USA now.

It may be less hassle to buy a local US SIM card while traveling.

thanks @fixin  that is a surprising news.  There was reason why T-Mobile keeps the 2G network, and I thought it will be there for sometime still
