Identity theft

Hello, I'm hoping one of you tech wizards can guide me here. Recently I stupidly gave my phone number, email and birthdate to a person who came to my front door claiming they were from Rogers offering a deal on TV services. They may have been but I got squeamish when they asked for more ID info and I sent them away.  I've been told that what I disclosed to them is enough to compromise my identity and that I should contact my phone service provider and get my number changed. Does this ring true to you? And if so, does that mean I should get a new SIM card? Not sure about steps to take. Thanks in advance.

@DS88 - In mid January when I was having TELUS Legacy OptikTV activation issues, I had three non working boxes then a Rogers employee sales us. I just asked where did you work? He said Calgary. We ended up cancelling Rogers because TELUS was working again.

@DS88 for your email, see if you have 2FA turned just to be on the safe side.

I would not be overly concerned.  Most of that information would be common knowledge to anyone who knows you are to any company that you've ever done business with.

@DS88 you can go into the PM app and change your number, no need to replace the SIM card. In the app you would go to "Account" and then scroll down till you see "Change Phone Number" and go into it
