So, I've been looking forward to a concert since last year. As someone with a disability I don't get out much. This social distancing is nothing on me, I'm a pro. I'm not even bored yet. But, the one thing I push myself and do anyway despite knowing I'm in for huge physical payback after, my happy place, is likely going to be canceled. Seriously the world couldn't let me have like 4 hours? No official cancel yet but it's coming. They're already canceling things into the end of June in my area, and the close by area where it's supposed to take place is a huge covid hot spot right now...
I feel so let down. I never ask for much... The world couldn't just let me have this one? 😔
Sorry just felt like a good vent about it...

@Pawprints1986 I'm sort of in the same boat as you....i was really looking forward to see a show on April 28th onlyv3 blocks from my house. I thought had it planned well enough....six weeks after surgery. Off crutches and only using a cane but alas it was cancelled. But two weeks ago I got news its been rescheduled downtown for July 19th. Will it happen? If it does I could get rescheduled for surgery at the same ? Or close enough to it that seeing my new favourite artist in a crowded nightclub on crutches and in recovery would just be stupid....so it's wait and see.....
So I'm curious whose concert are you hoping to see?

Sorry to hear about your concert 😞 maybe once everything has blown over and are in a more stable place they will be able to have the concert at a later date. It's always a bummer when this kind of stuff happens but its good to stay safe!

I've already been a fan since I was 9 lol, 33 now. They're plenty fine for money and fans, just a matter of how they will reschedule or if it will have to be scrapped for now, especially being at an outdoor venue in my case, reschedule space in the year is limited due to weather... If they changed venues I think they'd have to refund and start over cuz there's no way to match the seating

Live "concerts" may still happen online. Or maybe they'll mail out special Blu-Ray copies.
Yeah, it's not really the same thing. It does suck if you love live events. But it's better than nothing.
Bands gotta eat, too. And if they're savvy they'll do what they can to avoid disappointing fans who could remain long after the pandemic threat is over.

@srlawren I do understand them postponing for safety, completely... It's my heart and happiness that don't like it, when it's the only thing you really have been looking forward to and then it's not happening until who knows when... Bit of a mental health kicker in my case...
I get it, it's just also really upsetting for me 😔

@Pawprints1986 this is not over-reacting. Just look to Italy, Spain, and NYC to see what too little, too late brings. It brings overloaded hospitals and overloaded morgues. These are facts. The whole point of trying to get everyone possible to socially isolate is to flatten the curve. A lot of people may misunderstand. They are not trying to prevent everyone from getting this virus--they are trying to prevent everyone from getting it at the same time. When everyone gets it at the same time (again, look at those regions I mentioned and many more for examples), mortality rates rise noticeably.
Does it suck that this is going to drag on for months to years to come? Absolutely. But this extended timeline is the only way to help reduce the mortality rate, by letting everyone that needs medical attention to get the resources they need rather than being turned away by a lack of medical supplies, equipment, or personnel to care for them.
I get that you're disappointed. Take comfort in the fact that this epidemic is an equalizer, and literally everyone is feeling the same right now. I'm very, very glad that the concert your were looking forward to will be cancelled or postponed, and you should be too--particularly so given that you say you're in a higher risk category due to pre-existing condition. Please, be patient and wait this thing out.
I forgot to address your comments about other outbreaks in recent history. SARS-COV2 (the name of the virus that causes COVID-19) is a far more contagious virus. For every person that gets it, the average is they infect 2-3 additional people, which is exponential growth of infected individuals. The mortality rate is actually lower than it was with MERS, but the infection rate is much higher. A smaller percentage of a much larger pool of people means a lot more people are going to (and have already) died from COVID-19 than from SARS, MERS, mad cow, h1n1, etc.

The other crazy aspect is how many others didn't have this kind of reaction... SARS, mers, h1n1, mad cow, and probably others... The world didn't shut down for any others so it's just mind blowing where we're at today. Is this mostly over reacting as far as declared states of emergency?
I'm vulnerable with lower immunity with a preexisting condition so I would be isolating right now even if everything was open still, but is it an over reaction that the whole world is forced to isolate? 🤔🤔 really makes me wonder... Should they have made the vulnerable isolate and the healthy keep the world running more smoothly?
It's all just so crazy

Yeah i had a lot of things planned with family over the summer to spend some time together but those are probably going to get canceled. The whole summer is going to be like this too. Its going to take at least a year for things to get back to normal. Maybe even 2. It could take up to 2 years to get a vaccine. Look at the Spanish flu that lasted 2 years. 😞

I sense this virus is too deadly that a therapeutic won't do much. Vaccination or herd immunity is the long term solution.

I've heard they've already made some great progress with treatment options, just a matter of approval or something... It's not a vaccine but even successful treatment is huge

Understandable.
Given some articles I've read on "crowds" and the probability of a 2nd wave, I expect concerts, professional sports, and meetings of more that 10 will not return for a year. Unless we get lucky with a vaccine. 😞
