CRTC to fine Telus

Apparently Telus (in retaliation) has been blocking customers from dialing 867  area code and as such violated the Telecommunications Act.

Fine of up to 1.2 million is possible.

Anyone know if Public and Koodo also engaged in blocking? Anyone have any issues calling or receiving calls from 867 area code?

Iris / ICE / Sugar started the war

But I missed the posts of users complaining difficult to dial 867

Apparently it was a dual issue of artificially limiting capacity and then outright blocking as it got worse

Well...from what I can read...this Iris outfit are the ones that cheated. Then Telus said fine then our subscribers won't be able to connect.

So Iris commited the offense. Telus committed their offense in defense of that action.

I would put much more blame on the Iris thing than Telus.

But I do remember reading posts here of people complaining of not being able to call 867 numbers.

While I won't profess to know enough about it, it would seem to make sense that since PM & Koodo run on the Telus network, the area code was PROBABLY also blocked for those customers. 🤔
