TTC Subway Station Service

Currently there are 50+ stations which already have WiFi service and many already work with Freedom Mobile/Wind. Tconnect has invited carriers to sign onto it's network but so far only Freedom Mobile/Wind has. 

Connecting to the WiFi hot spots is too slow when you're in a moving subway and once you're connected you get disconnected very quickly. Often so quickly that there isn't enough time for a smartphone to even sync it's emails, notifications, etc. Especially when going through the sign in page.

While I like the idea its not up to PM. Unfourchtly Telus has that discreation to do it or not. Im not sure if Telus sees the payoff especially seen as I'm assuming they charge an arm and leg to rent the space to put recievers.

I can't recall where I read that Robellus was considering doing a roaming deal with Freedom Mobile.  Probably fake news.

In Japan, 5 floor deep subways all have LTE coverage all the time...

Perhaps some signal booster is enough to achieve signal underground...

When I was with Wind, I enjoyed the subway access.  However, it's not as much as a pull (to bring in business) as one would think, just because the execution is pretty poorly done right now.

Only on subway platforms, only downtown.

Complete access throughout the entire trip would be nice.  More stations would be nice.

It was always funny to make a phone call from within the subway itself.  THAT was a nice perk, but then again, you are only on the platform for what, a few minutes?

Similar problem here in Vancouver--Rogers has exclusive rights to provide cell service in the underground portions of the of the Skytrain in downtown Vancouver (on the original Expo line; the newer Canada Line has service from all everywhere).  Kinda sucks but at least it's quick from one end of the "dead zone" to the other, only 3 stops.

They massively overpaid for it (they bid $25 million vs Bell's offer of $5 million) so I doubt you will see it anytime soon

BAI WILL LOSE the contract so we both know Bell/Rogers/Telus are waiting them out

(Stipulates need certain use numbers or other carrier, probably Bell, will takeover the network)

BAI has a 20 year contract with the TTC. Freedom/WIND exclusive deal was for only one year and has since expired. So, I guess the only reason why the big 3 will not pay BAI for using their service is GREED and not providing customers service. So bug the crap out of Telus to pay BAI so that cell service will work.
