Accepted Solutions are used to calculate reward levels and therefore you shouldn't be able to tag one of your own replies as an Accepted Solution.

There's a user that received one of the top badges this month that started 7 (mostly inane) different threads and accepted one of their own replies as the solution in each one over the last couple weeks. This allows users to game the rewards system and make themselves look more helpful than they actually may be. It's dishonest IMO.

If people can't be ethical on their own then PM should remove the ability to accept your own reply as a solution to your own post.

Sorry if this idea sounds petty. Kinda sad that I have to even suggest it to be honest.

Our bad on this one - we will pay more attention to this in the future!

Not really feasible since, in theory, the original poster knows which suggestion was most helpful.

PM is happy to make corrections anytime you find someone gaming the system. Unfortunately, not the first, nor likley the last. Robot Mad

@Jeremy_M All good. I just happened to notice. It may have been a complete anomaly. 😃

@Luddite Perhaps. Usually if someone is posting a new thread it's pretty unlikely they're going to provide the best answer to their own question, etc. I mean, you don't have the ability to bravo your own post. Why should you be able to accept your own reply as a solution?

This should be possible though if you are not able to Bravo your own post you shouldn't be able to accept one of your posts as a solution.

I have recognized this in the past, but the other party argued that they keep getting emails about accepting solution on their posted topics. To eliminate getting more emails, they randomly select solution (including their own reply) even though topic is discussion based.

@ShawnC13 Yup, definitely possible.

@NDesai Wow. That makes no sense whatsoever as an explanation.

End of the day it's really not a big deal. It's almost funny. Not like you get big money for being in the top whatever percent. 😂

If ppl want to waste hours of their time gaming the system for a few bucks a month then go for it I guess...?

Let's say person A asks a question : we have then person B and  C provide answers, What if both B and C provided both good different answers and the solution was actually a mix of both of them. Do you give the answer to person B or to C , or should person A add one last update detailing that the solution is a mixt of both answers and then select his answer to credit both individuals and provide a full answer to anyone one is reading that in the future. In the idea I am with you, but sometimes it is just not practical

@zhadj030 I totally hear what you're saying. And I think there is a very small percentage (fraction of a percentage?) of cases that may fit the legitimate need to accept your own post as the solution. But I'd wager it's pretty minuscule and removing the ability to tag your own reply will have little to no adverse effect on the usefulness of the community forum.

Agreed indeed.  Just this week I saw someone mark their own reply as solution, even after a couple of members spent a lot of time with multiple replies helping to answer a tricky question.  The least the OP could have done was to give someone else a bit of credit for the effort.  I felt like sending that member a note of admonishment by private message.

@SD08 I unfortunately can't bravo your post so I'll just say 💯💯💯
