I find that PM/Telus's HSPA+4G supporting only 850/1900 3G is too narrow, if they added the 2100 or 2500 as well, then it would ease the pressures on ppl looking for compatible phones, to a certain degree

Also, though awkward to suggest, there are times when I wished the network also had GSM 2G ONLY for the basic service, and if ppl buy ONLY flip phone and only GSM is supported, well, that can throw a monkey in the wrench, matter of speaking

Just my way of trying to help give PM some advice and ideas to help make PM even grander, and ensuring all, even those who only use the flip phones, have all available access to the network, even for the occasional GSM 2G thing and only for the basic of services

Cell phone providers are limited by the spectrum they have available. If I recall, Telus bought some spectrum in the 700Mhz, 2500Mhz, and AWS-3 recently. Iirc AWS-3 uses 1700/2100Mhz. So yes Telus will be adding the two frequencies you talked about as most of the new spectrum auctions include a use it or lose it condition to prevent carriers from buying spectrum just to stop their competitors from using it. That being said, adding new spectrum is a slow and expensive process as new towers need to be added, or old towers upgraded. Long story short, I guess is be patient, it will come.

As for 2g, all carriers are moving away from it, to make the spectrum available for faster service, LTE, 5G or whatever. Rogers is currently the only network left in Canada with 2g and they are planning to get rid of it around 2018. The US carriers that still have 2g are also planning on phasing it out by 2020. 2g is dead. I'm assuming 3g will start to be phased out too in a couple of years.
