Love PM - Im a tech guy so I can work out issues easily.

However, some are not - the older generation def cannot.

THey need someone to call or a store to go to - walk them through issues that are simple for most.

Perhaps a 1-2$ support premium to be able to attend a telus store for simple support or phone line like the legacy clients @ that premium?

they already have this for legacy customers. They raised legacy customer plans by $3, or switch the plan to koodo so they have phone support there rather than paying the $3 price increase. If people do not know the risks associated with an online only model or feel unsure, then they should not join. People need to do their homework

This will definitely go to the not for us bin. They used to have 611 support for legacy customers and that went the way of the dinosaurs. Let's understand this, no one product is right for every customer. Asking them to charge separately for a premium service won't work. If a call centre was made available for a few bucks, who's going to pay for it when nobody uses the service? You think $2 from the odd paid interaction will pay for a few positions full time. I want my service as cheap as possible. The way to achieve that is a lean, mean operation. Let me be the first to say, not for us.

To the original poster, I don't know what your age is, but suggesting the older generation doesn't know how to fix tech issues, that is false.

I'm working with some pretty snapping old whipper-snappers who run circles around me in tech support for various systems.  The younger generation is quick and generally very good, but the older folks have class and smarts.

@Gimli unforutnately PM is not a good choice for anyone that needs a store or phone-based support.  The reason the prices are so great is because they forgo these types of things.  There's always a trade off, right?

If you want the same great network but with physical stores and phone-based support, then I'd suggest you look into Koodo.  You'll pay more for the plan, but you'll get those benefits.  Again, trade-offs.  🙂

I have a number of people I would like to put on to PM but am not willing to field the Tech questions.

Im in my thirties btw.

@Gimli ditto, I leave my mom on Fido and my uncles on Koodo and Fido for those very reasons.  Just to set expectations, PM have rejected these ideas in the past, and are highly unlikely to offer what you're requesting.  They are quite committed to the online-only model.

@srlawren  agreed.  I was just throwing out an idea.  I did a brief search but didnt find my specific idea with monetary aspect attached.

I frankly dont care.. im good.

but perhaps with the senior popluation growth - it may be a chunk of market share that PM may concider to be worth while.

eitherway - just thought I would throw it out there.

@Gimli yeah no worries, it's worth mentioning, especially with the pay-for-play twist you've added. I just wanted to set expectations is all.

will13am, I completely agree. Part of the reason for prices are so reasonable with public is not having a bunch of services we don't need and don't often get used.

It could work, but I'd imagine the administrative costs would cancel out any benefit for them...
