A Simple suggestion, but I think we should have a thread category for "User Experience" where a new or existing user would be able to share his positive or negative experience with PM.
Interesting thought, and I'm not against it. However, I think even the existing categories are potentially confusing, especially for new members. Having trouble activating? Where do I post? Getting Started? Discussions? Maybe it wont' take my payment, so should that be Paying for my Service, or Getting Started? Says it activated but won't let me into Self-Serve? Is that Getting Started, or Self-Servie? You can already see lots of examples of people posting to what is probably the "wrong" place--myself included when I was starting out.
Adding User Experiences to that at least has the potential to muddy that further. I think for something like this to work, or indeed for even the existing categories to be used "correctly" and consistently, there needs to be moderators that move topics/threads around when they are started in an incorrect category.
@Daniel, On a personal note, I wouldn't mind being volunteered under normal circumstances. Unfortunately, I'm dealing and will continue to deal with some serious matters into the foreseeable future, thus precluding my taking on additional responsibilities of the magnitude in question. That said, thank you for thinking of me when you were seeking a volunteer. Cheers.
Sorry I didn’t answer faster; during the weekend I try to avoid computers! It’s better for my stress level!
On the top category, I would like to see a “FAQ” category that moderator or PM staff could add relevant post to this section. Ideally this would need be updated on a regular basis and only preferred guest should be able to add on the topic (EX at least 500 post or at least 20 solves problem is require to post in the FAQ section).
I would keep the announcement section, and again I would suggest restrict who can post in this section. On the plus side, if less people can comment on the announcement, some power user (like @Martin or @imm1304, etc, could post constructive comment base of the feeds they get from the other forum pages). Since PM is in BETA, in the announcement should include a section with what’s being worked on, and if possible an ETA (I did say if possible). This could help lower the tension if people could know what’s going on behind the wheel!
On the main section, currently people tend to post a little anywhere! I would lower the amount of category to “New User” (For all problem from getting a SIM to activation your account and configuring your phone), “Selfserve” (for problem with payment, login, lag!, rewards), User Experience (so all good and bad experience can be easily access for someone looking to join PM), and a final category for discussion (talk about where we will be hanging out Friday night! And all other topics!)
I really like the suggestions as well. I will definitely bring this suggestion back to the team and take a deeper dive on this! @Daniel@imm1304 What would you think of a welcome section -were new Community members can introduce themselves?
