Charge for a Sim card to reduce waste and unactivated Sim cards as planned, but apply that amount as credit when the Sim card is activated. This will incentivize actually getting the Sim card activated... While not discouraging people from moving their service to PM or adding any overall cost to the customer.

You are basically paying for the xpress shipping. So i think this as still free sim card.

I disagree. Needing to apply credits to people's accounts would create more work for PM, and not to mention the potential problems that would arise from that.

You're paying $5 for your SIM, yet PM had to make it, ship it, and now you're asking for a credit on top of that? Not happening. Shipping with Xpresspost must cost them at least $8!

Hi @jamestneutron,

Thanks for sharing this idea. While we won't be applying a credit upon activation, we did want to explain our rationale. The reason why we switched from charging $10 SIM cards and then rebating to charging $5 per SIM is because we noticed that when their was value associated with the SIM card, there was significantly less waste. Knowing this, we wanted to make the change in a way that was meaningful to the Community. That is why we kept the price low, and provided Xpresspost shipping for free! Xpresspost delivers your SIM card within 1-2 days, compared to the 3-9 days it used to take with regular mail, so that you are able to activate that much faster, and get on with your regular routine.

Thanks @Brooke_C for sharing PM's rationale about charging for the SIM cards. I know different ideas as to why the switch was made have been flying around (even on my part), so it's good to hear it directly from you.
