Mods Online

On the right hand side we have users online, recent signins and new members.  Could it be possible to have a section that when the Mods are online they show up in this area.  It would help people when they send a message and aren't getting any action or reply to be able to see no one is online at that time.  Or if you have a continuing case you can find out if the Mod you have been dealing with is online and continue with your issue.

This has been requested before, but never really addressed. Thanks for bringing up the idea again because it would make it easier to send private messages or know who to tag.

@daredogg - it doesn't matter which mod you PM or tag - all mods can see whenever any other mod is tagged, and they all see the PMs no matter which mod you message (per this thread).  This feature would help so you could see if *no* mods are online (though even if they're not online on the forums, that doesn't mean they're not working), but otherwise I don't think it'll be much help.

@WearySky yeah I know it doesn't matter... I'm the one who got the KB document posted in the first place! 

Based on some recent events with mods replying to newer messages before some of the older ones, I'm not so sure that everyone gets alerted to everyone else's messages. Maybe the notifications do that, but I'm wondering if it's more that the moderators have access to eachother's messages. Nonetheless, this idea is good so that new customers can see that the forums are actually monitored. A few weeks ago I think @Luddite made mockup of what it could look like. It was him or one of the other oracles anyway.

I had figured it must have come up before.  I know myself if I came on and posted for a MOD I would be hanging around waiting for a reply.  Seeing that one isnt' even online would help.  I know even when they are online that they are super busy that you may not get a reply right away it is still making people aware of the online status of the mods

I'm not sure how this idea would help. Since they're so busy, seeing them online wouldn't necessarily mean that your priv msg would be answered. Come to think of it, even knowing their hours of operation isn't helpful either.
