Brand new (as in, 1 hour ago new) cx to PM and loving it so far, especially this community and a common incubator for ideas. Novel!

Wondering, in lieu of an app, since most of us will probably use My Account or Community from our devices, whether or not it should be charged against our data usage? I'm not even sure the technology would support that right now, but if it could, it would be helpful until an app is developed?

Cheers to wireless freedom.

I was wondering this as well as I know Bell customers don't get charged data when using the bell site or self service app.

Good idea @donaldblair, and welcome to PM!

Definitely a good idea.  I've never actually looked to see if it does count against our data buckets or not, but I fully support that it should not, much like calling 611 for help on any other carrier (and for PM customers that are grandfathered on older plans and still have phone-based support) does not typically count against a person's minutes bucket.

[Though, more and more people are getting plans with unlimited minutes, but the point remains that since we may "have to" use data in lieu of a phone call, the same concept should apply.]

I believe that, because of net neutrality laws in Canada, this is not possible anymore. In Canada I service provider can't allow certain apps/websites to pay for customers data usage on their sites as it creates an unfair advantage for those sites to garner more popularity.

Hello,

When you start and then finish using data, that constitutes a web event, which includes accessing this community or one's self-serve account.

FYI.
