Have voicemail on/off as an option

Please consider giving users the ability to turn OFF the voicemail component.  Who needs it as we all have text ....... I hate voicemail and hate it even more when someone leaves a PIA messsage.  Text me - dont leave a vm!

That may be true but also found this workaround: "give a wrong SMS centre number. Having a wrong one will basically lead to the caller hearing a message asking him to enter the voicemail number, instead of hearing your actual voicemail." @Luddite yes if you record an extended absence greeting and make it the active greeting, the caller will hear that message when you don't/can't answer, but will not be able to leave you a voicemail at the end of it.  You could instruct them to send you a text message instead, for example.

You can already disable the voice mail by yourself (just remove the voice mail number)

I was really requesting the option of having the call not diverted to VM... just ringing.  However,

is interesting .......  not sure I understand "just remove the VM number".  Can someone elaborate.....

@rsimonot in conditional call forwarding after a certain number of rings your call is forwarded to your voice mail

So in your case if you removed this number totally it never goes to voice mail

You can also increase number of rings or cause it to forward to an alternate number (eg ring 10 times on cell, if no answer then ring home or office phone)
