This needs to be an instant email, not on a cron job...
Currently it takes anywhere from 2-6 hours, I have attempted a few times now but the reset link expires before you can recive the email.
Totally agree, though I don't think it has always been like this.
If you have not managed to reset your password yet, you should send a message to the Moderators for them to help you reset it.
Its been like this for a long long time, and suggested several times, but alas nothng seems to be done.
Last week I did try it and i did get the password reset email in time so not sure if it is an intermittent thing or what but yes it needs yo be fixed.
